When you want to update the windows blinds in your home, you may be thinking the installation is going to be difficult and challenging. There are some tricks you can do to make it easier on yourself. You’ll need to do some preparation like getting the right equipment and preparing your work space.

In no time, the room in your house may be more comfortable and private by adding these new window blinds. It’s nice to get something new and fresh in the house. When you’re ready to replace those old blinds, here are some tricks to make it easy to install.

Preparation

Start preparing for the job by getting a hand drill, drill bit, pen markers and a measuring device. Prep the work area where you’ll be putting the blinds by cleaning the windows and ensuring there’s no glass damage.

Decide between inside and outside mounting of the blinds on the window frame. If you choose outside mounting the window and blinds will look larger, but inside allows a slimmer appearance with more light being able to enter the room.

Measure and Install

It’s a good idea to measure the frame before installing the brackets. Measure horizontally and vertically. If you chose to do an inside mount, measure inside the casing or window frame while outside mounts should be measured on the outer edge of your window’s frame. Mark with your pen where you want to drill and allow ¼ inch past the head rail for each side of your casing so that there is room for the valance.

You can then install your brackets that will work to support the window blinds system. Install them on the edge of the frame facing towards you and towards the center of the window.

Attach Blinds

Finally, you can attach your blinds and stilt wand. The head rail and valance will take place next. The head rail comes before the valance and should be positioned for a secured and balanced spot. Once the window blinds are up, secure your blind wand. You can adjust the length by preference, but make sure they are tied strong from the end of the string once you have the correct length.
