Do you have rooms in your home that are windowless and a bit gloomy? When you’ve got a room where you need to spruce up your windowless walls, there are many options for how to improve it. From adding frames, furniture, and shelves, to just adding décor or backdrops, there are several ways to make your windowless walls beautiful.

Frames

Use these walls to hang your photos or artwork. If you go frameless, it will look more casual and clean, but if you use a frame you can add some variety. Try different frame styles and colors or try to display them in a double-layered artistic pattern.

Furniture

You can use this wall to put a tall bookcase or permanently place a dresser and design around it.  Now they even make desks that hang off of the wall instead of off of legs sitting on the floor.

Backdrops

You have the ability to play with your wall’s texture, color, and pattern. Why not use this opportunity to do something unique with your wall. Try different options like:

  • Wood backdrop to bring a natural effect indoors

  • Brick backdrop

  • Fabric

  • Tiles

  • Shiny or Matte

  • Smooth or Textures

  • Wallpaper or Paint

You can even fit a mural to the wall. Think about these different aspects and what color scheme works best for you.  Decide what mood you are trying to create in the room.

Shelving

A great way to display your favorite vase, decorations, odds and ends, would be wall shelving. Add decorative frames, indoor plants, and books here.

Be careful to not make this wall too busy as to not make it displeasing to the viewer. If you choose a bold or busy backdrop, avoid much décor to not overdo it. Try neutral colors for a cleaner look. Whichever way you decide works best, any of these tips can make a windowless wall look even better.
