Do you have an extra room in your home you aren’t quite sure what to do with? Are you purchasing a home with a spare room? If you aren’t going to need a nursery and you are looking for some creative alternatives for the spare room, try one of these solutions.

Meditation Room

Have you ever considered creating a meditation room? This could be a place to relax and lower your stress levels. A peaceful atmosphere such as a meditation room may allow for a great escape from life’s stress and busy schedules. Add candles, a fountain and plants to give yourself a relaxing environment.

Playroom for Children

Do your kids tend to make a mess of their toys? Make a room designated for the mess. Creating a kid’s playroom allows them to go crazy with their toys, while keeping them out of the rest of the house.

They could do homework in this room if you need more space for them to work, as well. Make sure this room has good lighting and a work surface for homework or crafts.

Man Cave

Sometimes men need a place to retreat and call their own. A man cave is a great way to designate part of the house to the man’s favorite things, sports, beer and their favorite décor. It’s a great way to keep it out of the rest of the house and for him to have an area to relax with the guys.

Fitness Room

Save yourself the gym membership and create your own home gym out of the spare room. Get a few pieces of gym equipment you’ll use the most and make sure the room has good lighting. It may be helpful to have a television to watch while you walk on the treadmill, as well.

If you still aren’t sure what to do with that spare room, try a media room for movie watching, a craft room for projects or a home office.  All of these ideas will allow you to get the most out of the space in your home.
